Inaugural Postdoc Pub Talk aims to connect WCM researchers with Roosevelt Island residents

The Weill Cornell Medicine Postdoc Association (PDA) is hosting its first-ever Postdoc Pub Talk, a new science outreach event. Weill Cornell postdocs and organizers, Drs. Heidi Meyer, Anna Schlusche, and Keri Callegari, plan to develop this inaugural event into a series of regular discussions led by WCM researchers who reside on Roosevelt Island.

The first event, entitled, “Beautiful Minds,” is scheduled for January 22, 2019 at Nisi Kitchen, and will feature talks delivered by Dr. Michael Nortaras (“When does schizophrenia really begin”) and Dr. Reed Maxwell (“More than Ups and Downs: Everything You Didn’t Know You Needed to Know about Border-line Personality Disorder), both of which will cover, in lay terms, their ongoing research on mental illness.

The PDA hopes the talks will help the Island’s growing scientific community engage further with local residents. All are encouraged to attend “Beautiful Minds,” on January 22, 2019, at 7:30pm at Nisi Kitchen (549 Main Street) on Roosevelt Island. No RSVP is required.
