Postdoctoral Fellowships in Pulmonary Personalized Medicine

The Laboratory of Ronald G. Crystal, MD, at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City is recruiting postdoctoral scientists for projects related to pulmonary personalized medicine. The Department conducts a broad range of pulmonary projects utilizing patient and volunteer study subject samples obtained by fiberoptic bronchoscopy. We are employing genomic methods and air-liquid interface cell cultures to investigate pulmonary diseases including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), systemic scleroderma, chronic hypersensitivity pneumonitis, and a variety of smoking exposures (tobacco, e-cig, waterpipe). The Department houses an extensive biobank containing large and small airway basal cells capable of generating air-liquid interface cultures, bronchoalveolar lavage fluid, isolated epithelial and bronchoalveolar lavage cell DNA, RNA, and protein from hundreds of study subjects with complete pulmonary phenotyping including pulmonary function tests, chest imaging, and baseline physiological measures.

Job Requirements

We are looking for post-doctoral fellows with energy and new ideas who can take advantage of our extensive infrastructure to advance the field of pulmonary personalized medicine. Candidates must hold a doctoral degree (PhD, MD or equivalent) in a field related to pulmonary cell and molecular biology, biochemistry, physiology, and/or computational biology.

To apply: email your cover letter and CV to geneticmedicine@med.cornell.edu; including “Pulmonary Postdoc” in the subject line. Candidates are not required to have experience in pulmonary biology, but should demonstrate productivity through high quality, first author publications in a related field. Weill Cornell Medicine is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Women and underrepresented applicants are especially encouraged to apply.
