The Orr lab at Weill Cornell focuses on astrocytes, astrocytic-neuronal interactions, glial responses in neurodegeneration, neuroinflammation, and signaling pathways in the mitochondria, including oxidative stress, as therapeutic targets for neurodegenerative disease. We have several open positions for postdoctoral fellows and welcome inquiries from motivated candidates interested in translational neurobiology and mechanisms of disease. Ideal candidates will have specific interests in astrocytic-neuronal signaling or mitochondrial production of free radicals in the brain.
Our trainees are individually mentored, supported, and encouraged to lead independent high-impact projects, collaborate with others, submit research proposals, build their professional networks, and prepare for career success in academia or industry. Please visit our lab website to learn more about our superb team, research projects, latest lab news, and shared core values.
We are located in the state-of-the-art Belfer Research Building in the vibrant upper east side of Manhattan and are part of the bustling biomedical complex of Weill Cornell Medicine, Sloan Kettering, Rockefeller University, and New York-Presbyterian Hospital. Our lab is part of the Appel Alzheimer’s Disease Research Institute and the Brain and Mind Research Institute at Weill Cornell. Postdoctoral positions include competitive salary and benefits, and great options for subsidized housing (with many nice amenities) close to the lab.
Job Requirements
Applicants should have a PhD and/or MD, and rigorous previous training in neuroscience or other relevant fields. We are especially interested in postdoctoral candidates with outstanding records of research productivity and training in molecular biology methods (CRISPR, RNAseq, cloning), mitochondrial biology, electrophysiology, and/or immune-related signaling pathways. We strongly encourage underrepresented and minority applicants to consider our lab. If interested in applying, please send us your CV and a summary of previous accomplishments and current interests.
