The Nam Lab (annanamlab.com) of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory, Computational Biology and Medicine, and Meyer Cancer Center at Weill Cornell Medicine is seeking post-doctoral scientists to study the development and progression of cancer using cutting edge molecular and computational approaches. We focus on developing novel single-cell and spatial multi-omics techniques and computational algorithms to directly interrogate primary human tissues. We implement a complementary approach of discovering cancer-specific signatures directly in patient samples through the powerful single-cell and spatial sequencing platforms and mechanistically defining these targets through model systems for translational impact.
We are recruiting both (1) wet lab-focused molecular biologists to lead genomics technology development and experiments and (2) computational biologists to develop new algorithms for discovery in high-dimensional datasets generated by novel experimental procedures. The positions are fully funded, and offer competitive benefits and access to subsidized Roosevelt Island.
As a Postdoctoral Associate you will be working on a project related to study cancer using advanced single-cell multi-omics technologies. You will be responsible for the following:
- Conduct the research independently and/or collaboratively with colleagues to ensure all experiments are appropriately conducted following Lab, Department, and College policies and procedures.
- Designing, organizing, and carrying out experiments using established protocols, and sometimes adapting to and designing new protocols.
- Collect, prepare, and analyze research data. This may include keeping a detailed notebook summarizing experiments and recording research data and/or maintaining a computer database of the research data.
- Tabulate data for presentations and use graphics and statistical software to analyze and present data.
- Participate in abstract and article preparation with the Principal Investigator, publish results in research journals, and present findings at conferences.
- Assist the Principal Investigator in applying for fellowship, grant, and scholarship support, as requested.
- Assume general responsibility for scientific operations of the laboratory, including training and supervising interns, students, and other laboratory personnel, as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:
•PhD in human genetics, molecular biology or related field with expertise in any of the following: sequencing technologies, cellular/molecular biology, genomics technology development, murine modeling; or
•PhD in computational biology, computer science, or a related field with expertise in analyzing next generation sequencing data, machine learning, biostatistics.
•A publication record.
•Excellent organizational and analytical skills, along with a high degree of independence and flexibility to thrive in a novel and rapidly evolving research environment.
•Track record of teaching and mentoring students and technicians.
•Ability to communicate and work effectively with a diverse team of clinicians and scientists, including post-docs, students and technicians.
Application Process:
Please include the following items with your application: (1) CV with a list of publications; (2) a short summary of your present and future research interests; (3) a list of three references and their contact information to Dr. Anna Nam at shn9035@med.cornell.edu.
