Postdoctoral Fellow in Artificial Intelligence for Medicine

As a Postdoctoral Fellow, you will be working on Machine Learning in Medicine in the Intelligent Medical Systems Laboratory (https://imeds.ai) led by Prof. Aleksei Tiulpin.

  

Upon successful appointment, you will become a part of the Department of Radiology, and your responsibilities will be as follows:

  • Develop and pursue a research program in artificial intelligence in medicine, with an emphasis on clinically relevant and translational applications related to disease prevention and prevention of treatment complications.
  • Develop new methods at the intersection of medical imaging, large language models, and statistics.
  • Publish research findings in leading peer-reviewed journals and conferences and present work at scientific meetings.
  • Pursue external funding opportunities appropriate for early-career investigators, including fellowships, foundation grants, training grants, and pilot awards.
  • Mentor and provide scientific guidance to students and trainees involved in AI for medical imaging research.
  • Participate actively in departmental and interdisciplinary research activities, including seminars, workshops, and collaborative meetings.
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and intellectually vibrant academic environment.
  • Conduct research in compliance with institutional, regulatory, and ethical standards.

  

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. in Computer Science or related fields.
  • At least three first author publications in Machine Learning and Computer Vision venues, such as NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML, TMLR, IEEE TPAMI and / or Medical AI venues, such as MICCAI, MIDL, MEDIA, MELBA, and IEEE TMI, IEEE JBHI.
  • Desire to translate machine learning research into meaningful applications that positively impact lives of thousands of people.

  

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum qualifications
  • Experience in at least of the following methodological areas: vision language models, alignment, implicit neural representations, image segmentation, longitudinal disease phenotyping.
  • Track record of mentoring students and track record of obtaining individual fellowships.
  • Track record of interdisciplinary collaboration

This is a two-year position. Academic appointments are made 1 year at the time.

$74,692 - $86,535

Visa Options:

Union Membership:

This position is covered under a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) between Weill Cornell Medicine and the International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace, and Agricultural Implement Workers of America (“UAW”), and its Local Union, Weill Cornell Medicine Postdocs United-UAW Local 4100.
