Postdoctoral Associate in Medicine, in the Lab of Dr. Nicholas Collins

We are seeking an enthusiastic postdoctoral fellow to join us in investigating the impact of nutrition and microbiota on immune responses. You will join an outstanding and supportive group within The Jill Roberts Institute for Research in Inflammatory Bowel Disease and The Friedman Center for Nutrition and Inflammation at Weill Cornell Medicine. We are located in an exceptional research hub in New York City, with access to cutting-edge technology and numerous opportunities to collaborate with colleagues at Weill Cornell Medicine and nearby research centers.

  

Our group performs research at the interface of immunology, nutrition, metabolism, the microbiota, and physiology. Our overarching goal is to identify processes that optimize immune responses for application to the design of novel cancer immunotherapy and vaccination strategies, and to promote the development of rational diet-based therapeutic options for the prevention and treatment of disease.

  

As a Postdoctoral fellow, you will be responsible for the following:

 

  • Conduct the research independently and/or collaboratively with colleagues to ensure all experiments are appropriately conducted following Lab, Department, and College policies and procedures.
  • Designing, organizing, and carrying out experiments using established protocols, and sometimes adapting to and designing new protocols.
  • Collect, prepare, and analyze research data. This may include keeping a detailed notebook summarizing experiments and recording research data and/or maintaining a computer database of the research data.
  • Tabulate data for presentations and use graphics and statistical software to analyze and present data.
  • Participate in abstract and article preparation with the Principal Investigator, publish results in research journals, and present findings at conferences.
  • Assist the Principal Investigator in applying for fellowship, grant, and scholarship support, as requested.
  • Assume general responsibility for scientific operations of the laboratory, including training and supervising interns, students, and other laboratory personnel, as necessary.

   

 Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Immunology.

 

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with metabolism, microbiota, infectious disease and/or tumor immunology.
  • Experience with inflammatory bowel disease research
  • Strong analytical skills, with proficiency in data interpretation and scientific writing.
  • Enthusiasm for translational research and a collaborative mindset.

Salary:

The starting salary for the Postdoctoral Associate position is $74,692
