The Hamieh Lab is seeking an exceptional, highly motivated, and self-driven Postdoctoral candidate to join our team in the Department of Pediatrics, the Meyer Cancer Center, and the Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York. We are an ambitious research lab focused on advancing next-generation engineered T-cell therapies for cancer through rigorous mechanistic investigation and preclinical development with clear translational impact.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in dissecting fundamental mechanisms that regulate engineered T-cell function, investigating tumor resistance pathways, and developing therapeutic strategies with the aim of advancing them toward clinical application.
This position is ideal for a driven, intellectually proactive scientist who thrives in a dynamic and multidisciplinary research environment. You will join a focused and collaborative laboratory committed to scientific rigor, innovation, and translational impact. The lab operates within a strong research network, with access to state-of-the-art core facilities, patient-derived samples, and cross-disciplinary collaborations.
As a Postdoctoral Associate, you will be responsible for the following:
- Conducting research independently and/or collaboratively with colleagues to ensure all experiments are appropriately conducted following Lab, Department, and College policies and procedures.
- Designing, organizing, and carrying out experiments using established protocols, and sometimes adapting to and designing new protocols.
- Collect, prepare, and analyze research data. This may include keeping a detailed notebook summarizing experiments and recording research data and/or maintaining a computer database of the research data.
- Tabulate data for presentations and use graphics and statistical software to analyze and present data.
- Participate in abstract and article preparation with the Principal Investigator, publish results in research journals, and present findings at conferences.
- Assist the Principal Investigator in applying for fellowship, grant, and scholarship support, as requested.
- Assume general responsibility for scientific operations of the laboratory, including training and supervising interns, students, and other laboratory personnel, as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Ph.D. in Immunology, Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or a related field.
· Strong background in T-cell biology, immunotherapy, synthetic receptor engineering, and/or tumor immunology.
· Demonstrated ability to design, execute, and troubleshoot complex experimental strategies with scientific rigor.
· Hands-on experience with primary mouse or human T cells.
· Experience with molecular cloning, vector construction, viral and/or non-viral gene delivery systems.
· Experience with genome editing and gene engineering approaches is highly desirable.
· Proficiency in multi-parameter flow cytometry and functional immune assays (proliferation, cytotoxicity, cytokine profiling).
· Experience with murine tumor models, in vivo treatments, and tissue processing.
· Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals, including first-author publications, with demonstrated excellence in scientific writing and preparation of manuscripts and competitive fellowship applications.
Professional Expectations
· Self-motivated, intellectually independent, and willing to learn, with a strong commitment to continuous self-development, scientific maturity, and initiative.
· Ability to lead and execute projects from experimental design through publication in close collaboration with the research team.
· Highly organized, analytical, and capable of multitasking in research.
· Resilient and comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving research environment.
· Strong collaborative mindset and ability to function effectively within multi-disciplinary teams.
· Commitment to rigorous science, reproducibility, and the highest standards of research ethics and integrity.
· Active contribution to manuscript preparation and competitive fellowship or grant submissions.
· Engagement in professional development activities and in scientific presentations, locally or at national or international meetings, is expected.
· Consistent research productivity, including peer-reviewed publications and scientific presentations.
