The Department of Radiology at Weill Cornell Medicine is now accepting applications for the Cornell NYC AI for Medical Imaging (AI4MI) Fellowship. Applications submitted by March 15, 2025, will receive full consideration.
The Cornell AI4MI Fellowship is a prestigious three-year postdoctoral research position based in the Department of Radiology at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City. As a Postdoctoral Associate/AI4MI Fellow, you will receive mentorship from Cornell faculty in areas such as research strategy, fundraising, student and trainee recruitment, and broader career development.
AI4MI Fellows will have full independence in shaping their research agenda while being encouraged to leverage the resources and collaborative opportunities at Weill Cornell Medicine and Cornell Tech. The fellowship is designed to serve as a launching pad for the Fellow’s future research career, including potential tenure-track faculty positions.
As a Postdoctoral Associate/AI4MI Fellow, you will be working on projects related to artificial intelligence for medical imaging. You will be responsible for the following:
- Develop and pursue a research program in artificial intelligence for medical imaging, with an emphasis on clinically relevant and translational applications.
- Identify and establish collaborations with clinical faculty at Weill Cornell Medicine, including at least one Radiology faculty collaborator, to define and address clinically meaningful research problems.
- Design, implement, and evaluate machine learning and AI methods for medical imaging using real-world clinical data.
- Publish research findings in leading peer-reviewed journals and conferences and present work at scientific meetings.
- Pursue external funding opportunities appropriate for early-career investigators, including fellowships, foundation grants, training grants, and pilot awards.
- Mentor and provide scientific guidance to students and trainees involved in AI for medical imaging research.
- Participate actively in departmental and interdisciplinary research activities, including seminars, workshops, and collaborative meetings.
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and intellectually vibrant academic environment.
- Conduct research in compliance with institutional, regulatory, and ethical standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
Eligible candidates must have earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field between September 1, 2024, and September 1, 2026. Applicants should have a demonstrated research record of excellence in Artificial Intelligence (AI) for medical imaging, including peer-reviewed publications in leading conferences (such as MICCAI and MIDL) and journals (such as MEDIA, MELBA, and IEEE TMI).

Compensation and Research Support:
Annual Salary: $74,692 - $86,535
- Research Support: $20,000 in annual discretionary research funds.
