The Goto Lab at Weill Cornell Medicine is seeking highly motivated and passionate postdoctoral researchers to join our team. We investigate intestinal stem cells, colorectal cancer, and inflammatory bowel diseases using genetically engineered organoid and mouse models.
A central focus of our research is the role of "niche" cells—specialized components of the microenvironment that regulate the behavior of stem cells and tumor cells. To investigate these interactions, we have developed innovative platforms, including organoid–niche cell co-cultures, reporter mouse models, and orthotopic transplantation models (Goto N et al., Cell Stem Cell 2022; Goto N et al., Nature 2024; Goto S et al., Cell Stem Cell 2026). Building on these tools, we are now uncovering how niche cells contribute to various gastrointestinal diseases.
The Goto Lab is part of the Division of Gastroenterology in the Department of Medicine and is affiliated with the Jill Roberts Institute for Research in Inflammatory Bowel Disease, offering a highly collaborative environment with access to state-of-the-art core facilities.
As a Postdoctoral Associate, you will be working on a project related to intestinal stem cells, colorectal cancer, and inflammatory bowel diseases. You will be responsible for the following:
- Conduct the research independently and/or collaboratively with colleagues to ensure all experiments are appropriately conducted following Lab, Department, and College policies and procedures.
- Designing, organizing, and carrying out experiments using established protocols, and sometimes adapting to and designing new protocols.
- Collect, prepare, and analyze research data. This may include keeping a detailed notebook summarizing experiments and recording research data and/or maintaining a computer database of the research data.
- Tabulate data for presentations and use graphics and statistical software to analyze and present data.
- Participate in abstract and article preparation with the Principal Investigator, publish results in research journals, and present findings at conferences.
- Assist the Principal Investigator in applying for fellowship, grant, and scholarship support, as requested.
- Assume general responsibility for scientific operations of the laboratory, including training and supervising interns, students, and other laboratory personnel, as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. or an M.D./Ph.D. degree. Laboratory experience in molecular biology and expertise in mouse models are required.
Preferred Qualifications:
We are particularly interested in candidates with technical expertise in two or more of the following areas: mouse experiments, organoid culture, CRISPR/Cas9 engineering, flow cytometry, and bioinformatics.
