Introduction to the Greenblatt Lab
The laboratory of Matthew Greenblatt focuses on bone biology and identifying new stem cell types in the skeleton, having recently reported the identity of a new periosteal stem cell (Debnath et al. Nature 2018). The approach of the lab combines traditional mouse genetic approaches with single cell sequencing, biochemistry, lineage tracing, adoptive transfer cellular studies and flow cytometry to identify the cell types responsible for forming bone. Additionally the Greenblatt lab also focuses on leveraging new methods to study bone including imaging mass cytometry and in vivo clonal lineage tracking. Currently we have exciting active projects where candidates for new skeletal stem cell types have been identified but require further study to validate the stemness, downstream differentiation pathways and physiologic functions of these populations.
Environment
The Greenblatt laboratory is located at Weill Cornell Medical College, a premiere American medical school in the Upper East Side of New York City. Weill Cornell Medicine is part of a rich science community on the Upper East Side, including the adjacent Rockefeller University, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and the Hospital for Special Surgery. Between these institutions, the Greenblatt lab has access to a range of cutting-edge core facilities, including cores for genomics, mass spectrometry, flow cytometry and µCT.
Job description
The Greenblatt lab has identified preliminary candidates for a novel class of skeletal stem cells and is looking for a postdoctoral fellow to follow up on these candidates to experimentally demonstrate their stemness, downstream differentiation pathways and physiologic functions. The postdoctoral candidate would join an established lab of approximately 7-8 postdocs and technicians with all relevant equipment, validated protocols and an active mouse colony. The Greenblatt lab is looking for highly motivated and accomplished candidates to take on this ambitious project. Prior experience in bone biology is not needed.

Salary Range is: $58,500 - $65,320
